MetrO, your companion on New Year's Eve

We are pleased to anounce the release of MetrO databases for the special New Year's Eve services in Paris (France) and Brussels (Belgium).

Paris: a selection of subway and railway lines will be open after the end of the regular service (at about 2AM) as well as the usual "Noctilien" night bus lines. All the RATP & SNCF services will be free from 5PM on 12/31 to 12PM on 01/01.

Brussels: regular service will be extended until about 12:30AM on 01/01 for 10 bus lines (not included in our special file). The subway lines and a selection of bus and tram lines will run during the rest of the night, until 6AM on 01/01.

These services are also available on i-MetrO for the WEB, WAP & i-Mode.

These databases have been built in a rush and may contain errors (especially for Paris) despite my efforts to make them as accurate as possible. If you find errors before next Sunday, please report them quickly.

Metro line 2 in Santiago (Chile) has been extended with 3 new stations.

Madrid

L.M. Pérez Llera reports the opening yesterday of yet another station in Madrid (Spain), on line 10.

Brest

M. Pouliquen reports a few changes on the Brest (France) bus network, planned for the beginning of next month.

New York (works)

The weekly advisories from the MTA in New York (USA) are full of changes, mostly for Christmas day (with normal service on some of the otherwise disrupted lines).

Berlin

M. Ciesielski reports a route change on one of the MetroBus lines in Berlin (Germany). We also improved the directions given on the route descriptions for a few lines, adjusting to the directions displayed on the buses and stop signs.

MetrUp 1.4.1

MetrUp, Our MetrO online updater is getting a major update with the following enhancements:
  • New menu with network options;
  • Option for connecting through a proxy (useful with WAP connections, in some cases);
  • Option to cancel an update session;
  • Better handling of severe network errors;
  • Support for slovak databases (preparing for the next batch of city additions).

Lausanne

F. Corrado has suggested a new POI (place of interest) for our Lausanne (Switzerland) database.

Paris Noctilien

The "Noctilien" (i.e. night bus) network in Paris (France) has been enhanced with 7 new lines and 1 line extended.

New York (works)

There are still a lot of disruptions on night services in New York (USA), affecting subway lines 1, 2, 4, 6, A, D, E & G.

Since these short-term changes may be confusing to our users, I have decided to make a special "works" file for New York (NewYork-works.pdb), that you may download here (future versions will also be available from our online update services).

With this decision, the regular New York database (NewYork-tourist.pdb) has been restored to the normal subway service.
