Moscow, Ulaanbaatar

N. Hawkins provided data for a few places of interest (POIs) to add to our database for Moscow (Russia).

He also pointed out that the Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) subway is a joke and just does not exist! We will remove it from our future deliveries, although we could consider the file as a continuation of the joke...

Porto

There has been some confusion (for which I am to blame, mostly) last December over the addition of the bus network to our database for Porto (Portugal), by F.D. Duarte & G. Martins-Coelho. It was completed (except we had to leave out a few less-frequent routes because the file became too big) before our latest release but I kind of forgot to add the new file in our package...

This will be fixed in our next delivery, of course.

Beijing

L. Freund reports that our trip times on the Airport Express in Beijing (China) are overly optimistic and we adjusted them to more realistic values. I hope nobody missed a plane because of that...

Saarbrücken

E. Descheres spotted a pair of mistakes in our data for the tram routes in Saarbrücken (Germany).

As for Mainz before, I think the data for the bus network also requires an update, although probably not as extensive... Any volunteer for a check?

Paris (works)

RATPWorks at subway station "Louvre-Rivoli" in Paris (France) have ended. Use our online update services or download the "temporary" files here:

MetrO for Blackberry 0.4.1

BlackBerryI have just released a new version of MetrO for the BlackBerry which adds new features and fixes a few bugs. Hopefully this will be the last "beta" and we expect to deliver a general release in the coming weeks, if no major problem arises.

New features include:
  • Contacts management: you can set MetrO stop(s) on your contacts and access them from the program interface. This feature may be slow if you have a lot of contacts on your BlackBerry.
  • Stop history: you can quickly retrieve the 10 latest stops you used. As for the assisted text entry, this may interfere with the "SureType" feature available on recent devices.
  • Memory card support: city databases may be installed on a memory card, if available, including by directly copying our pdb files to the card.
  • An option to update all installed cities at once.
  • Improved icon, although not perfect on every system.

Bug fixes include:
  • Better route display, with explicit icon for one-way start or end stops.
  • Error in the POIs details (some connections were missing).
  • Error in the city list after a database has been deleted.
  • Improvement on the file management.
  • Better handling of empty routes (e.g. when a line is closed).

Important! Some of the new features apply only to recent devices. For this reason, 2 versions of the program are provided, 1 for older systems (from OS 3.6.0) and 1 for newer ones (OS 4.2.0 or greater). Be sure to select the right one for your BlackBerry!

Complete information and downloads are available here.

Since I consider this release to be feature-complete, I am now ready to add new language versions. If you want to help, you may translate the strings in this file and send it back to me.

Please note that this is beta software. If you don't want to take any risk with your data, please don't install it on your BlackBerry yet. If you do want to participate in the beta phase, please report any issue you may encounter, providing as much detail as possible (and accept our apologies).

Folder 1.0.6

FolderA. Lottem discovered a (stupid) bug in Folder, the PalmOS utility that automatically moves the MetrO files, among others, to the right place on your memory card after a hotsync.

The problem -- which affected only older devices (running PalmOS before 5.0) -- has been fixed in version 1.0.6, available from here.

i-MetrO

i-MetrOI tweaked the way i-MetrO handles queries for routes from or to a street address, for more realistic results.

I also plan on adding an option to minimize walk in the suggested route, but for this I need translations (in the languages supported by the service) for the text "I don't like to walk" (or something similar). Thanks in advance for your help!

Istanbul

According to L. Freund, the change we made recently on our Istanbul (Turkey) database was probably premature. For the sake of simplicity, we will keep the M2 as a single route, however.

I also received some data from Martin, which led me to add a MetroBus route to our data, map coordinates for its contents (soon to be delivered on i-MetrO) and fix a few errors in the process.
